She’s Ready is a female volunteering and empowerment programme that started its life in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The project supports women to inspire and lead other women in their local community to be more active.

 

After 3 successful years running the programme locally, the project leads Lisa Wright and Sarah Potts from Active Life for a Healthier You are scaling the project nationally with funding from Sport England and support from Spring Impact. From January 2022, the project is being piloted with 9 new organisations across England in North Yorkshire, Gloucester, Essex, Northumberland, and Berkshire. Sports Marketing Surveys is supporting the project to monitor and evaluate the success and impact of the project.

Investigation – What We Do

We have worked closely with Lisa and Sarah to fully understand the project and clarify the project’s research objectives. We have carefully considered what data they need to capture to enable them to report back to Sport England, demonstrate the impact of their work to local partners, gather feedback to make programme improvements, and arm them with meaningful data to approach new funders or sponsors in the future if needed.

 

 

Insight – How We Do It

We have written and created a series of pre and post-project quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. These will be completed by both project participants and partners including Active Partnerships and local charities.

 

We have taken into consideration the research audience and their availability. We have kept the surveys as short as possible by collecting only the information we know we need, respondents are only needed twice and completion can be done at a time that works for them. We have been transparent upfront with all involved on the project’s research requirements, so there are no surprises during the project.

 

Action – How Will The Data Be Used

Once the fieldwork is complete, we will produce a report of our findings and insights for Lisa and Sarah. We will share this and be on-hand to talk through the report and provide data files as needed.

When we first met with the team at SMS, we knew that they would bring something extra to the review of She's Ready. At this pilot stage it is vital we get enough data for future proofing but also to not inundate the women we are working with. Hannah and I met regularly and went over the questionnaires and outcomes we wanted to report, we did make some changes after reviewing the information but nothing was ever a problem for Hannah and the team, it has been a seamless transition from first discussions to research methodology to survey creation. We look forward to the final results, I am convinced that SMS will be able to present the data in a really usable way, and hopefully help She's Ready continue to grow.
